LANCASTER UNIVERSITY MEDICAL SOCIETY
Societies
As a member of MedSoc, you also have the opportunity to get involved in a variety of sub-societies depending on what peaks your interests! It may seem quite overwhelming so we've put together a bit of information for you about what each society is all about...

MUSLIM MEDICS SOCIETY
Our society aims to bring together the large population of Muslim Medics at Lancaster and provide a supportive and relaxing environment for everyone. We hope to host events and socials where our Muslim community can comfortably take part and get to know one another (without the music and alcohol that a lot of university events have!) We will also be providing academic support through offering advice, revision sessions and OSCE practice, which are open to all medics.
This year, we have hosted our first ever annual Iftar event, where we managed to raise over £2000 for charity. We have also supported charities (with 100% donation policies) to provide aid to those affected by the floods in Libya and the earthquake in Morocco. We will continue to raise money as a society inshAllah and fulfil our Muslim duties to help our brothers and sisters in need.

LANCASTER MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY SOCIETY
Lancaster University’s first MedTech society! We’re all about the exciting world where healthcare meets cutting-edge tech. Think robotic surgery, AI diagnostics, and devices like pulse oximeters and ECGs. Our events include expert talks and workshops. Come join our community and explore the future of medicine!

LANCS MEDSKI
Hello! We are MedSki, the society who plan and run the Medic ski trip at Lancaster University.
We have a really exciting ski trip coming up on the 16th-23rd December 2023 to Val Thorens. The price is £499, which covers the lift pass, accommodation and a range of events.

The trip is organised via a consortium of medical, dentistry, and veterinary schools meaning the trip is one of the largest university ski trips in the country, boasting around 400 people last year in Avoriaz.

We are hoping to run a social soon preceding the trip to get to know everyone before we jet off.

It is a really special trip, where you can make great friends and greater memories at a really reasonable price!

LU Women in Surgery
We are a new society dedicated to encouraging women in surgery, based at Lancaster University. This includes raising awareness and the profile of barriers female medical students and doctors (may) face. Our aim is to inspire and support our medical students to view surgery in a new light, through social and charity events, networking, conferences, teaching sessions and more.

LANCASTER MARROW
Lancaster Marrow is a Student-led society that works in collaboration with Anthony Nolan to help recruit potential stem cell donors to the Stem Cell Register.
We organise donor recruitment events in the university, and also raise money for such a noble cause! In short, we aim to help save lives.
If you would like to get involved and volunteer at our events please join our society! Follow us on Instagram @LancasterMarrow for updates 😃
